Tingley Coliseum

When the Tingley Coliseum was first designed and built during the 40s and 50s, no one expected how big a part it would play in Albuquerque’s festival season planning. The 11,571-seat multi-purpose arena was originally designed as a rodeo and horse show auditorium but has since gone on to become host for the Albuquerque Six-Guns and New Mexico Scorpions ice hockey teams. It has also played host to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBA Development League from 2005 to 2010, as well as the New Mexico Slam basketball team from 1999 to 2001.

The Coliseum has also hosted several world-class entertainers, including Elvis Presley, Tina Turner, Nash & Young, KISS, Metallica, Garth Brooks, and many others. This follows the star-studded inauguration that featured Roy Rogers and Dale Evans back in 1957. The coliseum also plays an important role in bringing spectators to the New Mexico State Fair every year, as crowds can enjoy shows and exhibits at the fairgrounds as well as at the coliseum itself!

Recently, the coliseum has entered a period of renewal that brings the best of modern design to the facility. This includes energy-efficient house lighting systems and a brand new arena floor and drainage system. The vendor spaces, bathrooms, and lobbies have been upgraded with more convenient designs and high-quality HVAC and ventilation systems. Millions have been spent to bring the coliseum into the 21st century while still maintaining that unique New Mexico flavor and character.
